I think I deserve credit as the first TV programming student ever to have a portion of a taped segment censored by John Gunder.  We had recorded a spoof on Big-Time Wrestling that included shots and slang that John thought would get him/us in trouble and we were quickly reminded that we were the students, and he was the boss.  (I did hear him laugh under his breath though when he thought I had walked out of earshot.)

   John Gunder is also the person who may have given me the best broadcast advice I have ever received.  He told me that I, "have a face for radio", and I’m sure he is right.

 

   Since my junior year at St. John's, I have been blessed to work for WDOH-FM here in Delphos through at least 4 corporate ownership changes and at least that many formats changes.  Beginning in mid-2005, our new owners Maverick Media LLC., has me doing news from Delphos for WDOH, and for our Lima, Ohio stations WFGF, WZOQ, WUZZ, and WLJM.  In addition to the news, I also co-host a 4-hour-long morning show and do ad sales for the 5-cluster group.

 

   Like all of the visitors to this site, I owe a great deal to John Gunder for his help in my early professional development and for being a good friend.

 

   It’s also worthy of note that he was a tremendous influence on my daughter who was lucky enough to be a lead in one of the last senior class plays he directed.
